"The Holy Empire of Reunion adopts pluripartism. A political party is an organisation localized between the individual and the state; its existance is demanded by the representative system. It is an agremiation of people united around the same ideology, with the main objective of acquiring or mantaining power"

The Empire once adopted the single party system (until 1997), and the bipartism system (until 1998). With Imperial Decree 0049-1998, a pluripartist order was established, where, if certain conditions are present, political parties can be formed, in an easy and democratic way. Right now, six parties exist in the Empire: Imperial Party for the Glory of the Dynasty (PIGD), Socialist Pact (PACSO), Alliance for a National Reconstruction (ARENA), the Democratic Humanistic Union (UNIDA), Micronational Socialism (MICROSOC) and the Social-Democratic Party (PSD).

The Distinguished Imperial Council (formed of Counselours appointed by H.H.I.M.) is dominated by the conservative parties (ARENA and PIGD), while the People's Assembly of Qualicates has an oppositionist majority (PACSO, UNIDA, MICROSOC and PSD).  Last elections for qualicates were on July 2005.
