Section 1 - How we delineate ourselves

The Holy Empire of Réunion defines itself as a MICRONATION or NATIONETTE, that is to say, a miniature of a nation. A micronation is based upon an established national culture, symbols and institutions, as well as a perception of a colective past and future - a common destiny. We understand that a micronation may involve several dimensions: political exercise, societal conviviability, actual personal relations, live cultural experiments and so on. Within well-known micropatrology, we should qualify better as a mix of political exercise and nationhood categories. Some Réunians would qualify us as a political simulation, however the official policy of the Empire is to consider that definition too shallow and inaccurate, when it comes to the complexity Réunion has acquired on Its almost thirteen years of existance. The Holy Empire considers itself a modelist micronation, mixing very few virtual aspects to an absolutely original - and real- culture. Réunians play no roles - they act as themselves within the activities developed in our mailing lists and forums.

Section 2 - What we stand for

Our national Destiny - which poses this entire ANRDP - is to promote and fend for TRUE MICRONATIONALISM. Please note that we do not intend to establish a monopoly on micronational truth. In fact, to us, the very idea of true micronationalism is to basically establish some requirements for the recognition of a micronation: i) That the project has no hate policies, related to racist, sexist or other forms of morally unacceptable prejudices; and also that it settles to condemn and fight against such heinous conducts; ii) That the project bears no claims for nazist, stalinist or other totalitarian agendums or contents; iii) That the project is not a role-playing game (RPG) or a pure (exclusively) imaginary country, or that it alledges to bear non-human population or similar fantastical claims, although accepting the very concept of a modelist micronation, that is to mix a few virtual aspects with the exercise of micronationalism; iv) That the project does not aim to be a one-man-nation, having the capability to demonstrate a reasonable and adequate national population, which does not mean a certain number of citizens is required, however meaning that a micronation should have at least enough people to manage its chosen form of government and management ; v) That the project is able to impart minimal and reasonable activity; displaying at any time, at least: a functional government, an Internet embassy and internal communications between its citizens; vi) That the project shows up regularity, which means stable symbols, main references and a Constitution (written or not), and has survived for at least for 6 (six) months prior to Réunian recognition, following the League of Secessionist States' policy; vii) That the project endeavours to enter and have diplomatic relations with other micronations and nationettes, not refusing to take actions within micronational community (isolationism), being, however, acceptable for each nation to set its own reasonable standards for diplomatic recognition; viii) That the project subscribes Human Rights and the protection of Human Dignity, and also that it respects pacta sunt servanda and par in parem non habet imperium principles, and also the main lines of Vienna Conventions of 1961 and 1963 (UN) as well; ix) That the project does not support, promote or tolerate the practise of paplism in any form, for purposes of either espionage, international intrigue, electoral fraud or public opinion manipulation; x) That the project is in accordance with civility, prudence and fairness, being marked by sound judgement concerning foreign relations, not showing childish, wicked or absurd conducts, that cannot - at all - qualify as true micronationalism.

Section 3 - Recognition policy

The Holy Empire of Réunion strives to initiate, mantain and develop foreign relations with all micronations that behave accordingly to the standards of true micronationalism. If you represent a micronation under those requirements and wish to endeavour diplomatic ties with Réunion, we will be very interested to exchange international recognition, starting diplomatic relations right now. We also believe that relations should not stop at billateral recognition: members of the two nations should interact with each other in order to make those bonds effective. To do so, please contact one of our Undersecretaries for International Affairs, His Grace, D. Giancarlo Zeni, and we shall respond, hopefully, with a letter of intents.
